Elegant Simplicity

VERDANT collaborated with Axel Vervoordt and Kang Modern in designing this singular rooftop landscape for a client with a particular interest in design and horticulture.

This terrace with panoramic views of Lower Manhattan features three dramatic trees used as sculptural elements, juxtaposed with antique European sidewalk stones and minimal planting.

The trees—planted in custom planters commissioned by VERDANT—were chosen for their sculptural form, leaf texture, and presence among other delicate plantings. On a lower terrace, a tall hedge of Carpinus and formal boxwood grouping creates a private vantage point to enjoy expansive views of the West Village and the Hudson River.
