Panorama Terrace is a rooftop landscape that represents an elegant interplay between horticulture and the built environment. Created in close collaboration with internationally acclaimed Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt, architects KangModern, and the ingenious contracting team at Dowbuilt, our design features a curated palette of dramatically sculptural trees and plant species.

The terrace showcases three trees as defining elements that guide the layout. These selections, rooted in custom-designed planters, were prioritized for their sculptural nature. Though striking in form, the prudence of the overall layout belies its intense precision. Close attention was paid to the specificities of leaf texture, and a delicate approach was taken to potting and planting. These features are complemented by antique European sidewalk stones and foliage arrangements carefully designed for privacy.

The attenuated terrace smoothly juxtaposes plant life with fabricated elements to frame the home’s sublime, expansive views of Lower Manhattan and the Hudson River. On a level below, a tall hedge of Carpinus and a formal boxwood grouping create continuity with the upper-level botany, completing the home’s exteriors with subtle throughlines in palette.

Through our astute selection of geometric, softly textural greenery and bespoke planting and hardscape elements, Panorama Terrace adds an additional dimension of elegant simplicity to the residence’s impactful architectural character.
