Our client, Hudson Yard’s approached us to bring our expertise to the outdoor planting design for Locanda Verde’s second location at 50 Hudson Yards. Building on the beloved Tribeca restaurant’s legacy of welcoming New Yorkers with warmth, a leisurely Italian spirit, and heartfelt cooking, we sought to translate that ethos into a lush and inviting outdoor space.
A pair of upright magnolias frame the restaurant’s entrance, creating an inviting threshold. The planters, made from zinc with a live finish, are chosen for their ability to patina gracefully over time, complementing the rich textures of the restaurant’s facade. Loose, evergreen foliage softens the space, offering a dynamic yet understated visual rhythm that stays vibrant throughout the seasons.
Integrated lighting enhances the atmosphere, illuminating the greenery and drawing attention to the textural details of both the foliage and the planters. This carefully curated outdoor environment not only sets the tone for Locanda Verde’s warm hospitality, creating a memorable first impression for diners.
