Jardin de Metis Competition
Our "reclaimed metal field" is inspired by the latent ecologies of the urban, built environment. The design, a proposal for the Jardin de Metis, is complete with inclined irrigation systems to allow for the movement of sediment to play its due role in the poeticism of the installation. From impromptu tree wells springing from cracks in the pavement, to moss growing under the bleachers in a sports stadium, contrasts of machined surfaces and organic growth introduce an aesthetic of rawness. We designed an homage to these moments, with deference to natural growth.
