Located at center of TriBeCa, the Greenwich Hotel provides luxury accommodations in a landmarked historic neighborhood. As part of a major renovation of the penthouse suite and terraces, VERDANT collaborated with internationally acclaimed designer Axel Vervoordt. Two terraces wrap around penthouse hotel suite, with large glass windows allowing for a seamless panoramic view from the inside-out.
Working closely with numerous designers and consultants, VERDANT provided horticultural consultation, comprehensive plant selection, and collaborated on layout. A total of ten distinct landscape zones create a feeling of natural diversity, as well as a separation from the busy streets below. Special care was taken to control topography, accomplished by coordinating custom rooftop soil installation details.
Circulation meanders through the terraces, leading residents to a grove of Amelanchier. Outcroppings of undulating boxwoods, grassy meadows, and mature ivy – all soften the texture of the upper level. Wisteria was selected for its purple spring flower, which has grown to envelope the steel pergola.
Over thirty mature wisteria vines were planted, fifteen trees, and over one thousand perennials. Specially – engineered bulk soil was craned up during installation. In order to create this unique environment, VERDANT offered a unique blend of horticultural expertise and hands-on field experience.
