Taking inspiration from traditional Japanese gardens, Lower Terrace (name TK) features recovered boulders—hand-selected from Northwestern Massachusetts, creeping thyme, Irish moss, and a pallet of native grasses, shrubs, and perennials which grow seductively and gracefully on poured concrete forms and various architectural surfaces. One terrace is home to a grove of trees in hand-fired clay planters, another features loose stones with mature Japanese pines. Off the living room, the rock garden integrates both natural and aged materials juxtaposed with modern architectural elements.

The rooftop planting blends naturally into the Gachot Studio-designed kitchen and built-in cabinetry with refined furniture and seating areas. Our client had a keen eye for design and is highly involved in the process.

Scheduled for installation in Fall of 2019.
